Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services

The Department of Human Services provides access to home and community based services to help older Georgians connect with local area Volunteers who deliver meals, services to help live safely and healthy in their homes, caregiver resources and free information, referrals to health and human services agencies, list of Publications, nonprofit and faith-based organizations, disaster relief resources, and volunteer opportunities.

Georgia Council on Aging

The Georgia Council on Aging serves adults age 60 and older and their family caregivers. It provides links to Aging Organizations and Georgia Specific Resources.


Georgia Healthcare Association (GHCA)

The Georgia Healthcare Association is furthering the quality of long-term and post-acute care through programs and services that support people, patients, residents, skilled nursing centers, assisted living communities, SOURCE agencies.


Local Help for People with Medicare

GeorgiaCare provides free, unbiased, one-on-one counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries, their families, friends, and caregivers. GeorgiaCares has counselors throughout the state who are able to assist with Medicare questions.


GeorgiaCares Program: State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

Local assistance is available for health insurance related issues including Medicare, Medicaid, prescription drug assistance programs, financial assistance programs, and long-term care insurance. GeorgiaCares services are provided through Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), Action pact, Inc.,, The Senior Citizens Council of Greater Augusta, and the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), Georgia, Inc., and the Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) in the Atlanta metro area.


State of Georgia ADA Coordinator's Office

The American's with Disabilities Act, or ADA, provides technical resources to State agencies programs, services and activities offered by state and local governments.

A website provided by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services that provides one central place to access useful resources about healthy lifestyles, planning for retirement, and knowing your options for health care and long-term care.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The CDC works to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same. There is a lot of good information related to healthy living, emergency preparedness and disease management on the site.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

CMS manages the Medicaid, Medicare, and the Health Insurance Exchanges for the nation. The agency strives to empower patients to work with their doctors and make health care decisions that are best for them. Regulatory information regarding these health insurance programs and educational information about health care providers are shared on its website. You can access information specific to Medicare on the CMS medicare.gov site as well.

MyPlate is a reminder to find your healthy eating style and build it throughout your lifetime. Everything you eat and drink matters. The right mix can help you be healthier now and in the future.


HealthCare.gov / The Health Insurance Marketplace

The health insurance exchange website operates under the United States federal government under the provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. You can look for health plans and see if you qualify for any health care subsidies on this site.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Learn about and access veterans benefits, including healthcare, benefits, and burials and memorials.

World Health Organization (WHO)

WHO works worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. The agency strives to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, to protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being. There is valuable public health data shared on its website.


National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (NAHPCO)

National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization is the nation’s largest membership organization for providers and professionals who care for people affected by serious and life-limiting illness. Its broad community of members includes local hospice and palliative care providers, networks serving large regions of the United States, and individual professionals.

Based in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, NHPCO represents the interests of its members and the general public with legislative advocacy that helps to enhance and expand access to care that addresses holistic health and the well-being of communities.
